Terms of service

The rules for using Tomlock, in plain language. This is a draft and is not legal advice.

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

Tomlock (the browser extension, web app and website) is provided by [COMPANY NAME], [COMPANY ADDRESS] (“we”). By installing or using Tomlock you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use it.

2. The service

Tomlock is a Pomodoro focus timer and site blocker with a game layer (XP, gems, streaks, quests, badges), optional AI features, and optional accounts and sync. A weekly boss, a gem shop, study rooms and Strict Lock are planned for later updates and are not in this version. Core features work without an account. The product is in beta and features, limits and prices may change; we will not remove the free core timer or unlimited blocking.

3. Accounts

Accounts are optional. You are responsible for your account and for the browsers you link to it; you can revoke a linked browser in the web app. Give accurate information and keep your sign-in method secure. You must be at least [MINIMUM AGE — legal to confirm].

4. Lock levels are a commitment tool, not parental control

5. Plans, subscriptions and payment

6. Game items, XP and fair play

7. AI features

AI planning and Smart unblock can be wrong. Do not rely on them for anything important. See the privacy policy for how data is processed, including the optional Pro cloud fallback.

8. Acceptable use (and study rooms, when they ship)

Do not use Tomlock to:

When study rooms ship (planned, not in this version), room owners may remove members and reset invite links, and room members will see each other's status and weekly focus minutes, as described in the privacy policy. We may remove rooms or accounts that break these rules.

9. Your content

You keep ownership of what you enter (goals, names, blocklists). You give us a licence to store and process it to run the service for you. Your data rights are in the privacy policy.

10. Our property

Tomlock, Tommy and the Tomlock name, art and code are ours or our licensors'. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the extension and web app under these terms.

11. Availability, beta and third parties

We provide Tomlock “as is” during beta and do not promise uninterrupted service. It depends on Chrome and other Chromium browsers, whose rules and APIs can change, and on third parties such as the Chrome Web Store, our payment provider and our AI provider.

12. Ending your use

You can stop using Tomlock and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access for breaches of these terms or to protect the service. Sections that by nature continue (for example liability limits) survive.

13. Disclaimers and liability

Tomlock is a productivity aid. It is not medical, mental-health or ADHD treatment. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost data or lost grades or income, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim [LEGAL: confirm cap and consumer-law carve-outs]. Nothing limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], and courts in [JURISDICTION / VENUE] have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer rights where you live.

15. Changes and contact

We may update these terms; we will post the new version with its date and, for material changes, notify signed-in users. Continued use after a change means you accept it. Contact: [CONTACT EMAIL].
